    Starting off the list is a well known Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore romantic comedy.

    It follows the story of Henry Roth (Adam Sandler), who is a wildlife veterinarian in Hawaii, and who meets Lucy Whitmore (Drew Barrymore) a woman who has a short-term memory loss from an auto accident a year earlier. Henry is a ladies man on the island who has been breaking the hearts of female tourists for years. Henry meets Lucy at a local cafe and takes her out on a date. Henry falls in love with Lucy, but there is one problem when she awakens in the morning, she can’t remember him or anything that happened that day. Henry must devise a plan to meet Lucy every day and try to get her to fall in love with him again and again.

    The Notebook

     


    The Notebook, based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name, is a classic story of a young couple who fall in love in the 1940s, and gained a cult following later on. Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams star as the couple in question.

    A poor yet passionate young man falls in love with a rich young woman, giving her a sense of freedom, but they are soon separated because of their social differences. The story is told by Duke, a kindly octogenarian inmate of a peaceful nursing home, who reads daily a captivating story from the worn-out pages of his leather-bound notebook to a fellow Alzheimer’s-stricken woman.

    If you’re ready for a more dramatic movie that is part romantic and part psychological thriller, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind is one that will take your breath away. The cast includes award-winning actors and actresses Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood, and Tom Wilkinson.

    The movie explores the nature of memory and romantic love, through the eyes of Joel, who is stunned to discover that his girlfriend Clementine has had her memories of their tumultuous relationship erased. Out of desperation, he contracts the inventor of the process, Dr. Howard Mierzwaik, to have Clementine removed from his own memory. But as Joel’s memories progressively disappear, he begins to rediscover their earlier passion. From deep within the recesses of his brain, Joel attempts to escape the procedure.

    Casablanca

     


    If you’re more into oldies, here’s an American classic that is sure to move your hearts. Filmed and set during World War II, it focuses on an American expatriate who must choose between his love for a woman and helping her and her husband, a Czech resistance leader, escape from the Vichy-controlled city of Casablanca to continue his fight against Nazi Germany.

    The film tells the story of Rick Blaine, a cynical world-weary ex-patriate who runs a nightclub in Casablanca, Morocco during the early stages of WWII. Despite the pressure he constantly receives from the local authorities, Rick’s cafe has become a kind of haven for refugees seeking to obtain illicit letters that will help them escape to America. But when Ilsa, a former lover of Rick’s, and her husband, show up at his cafe one day, Rick faces a tough challenge which will bring up unforeseen complications, heartbreak, and ultimately an excruciating decision to make.

    No romantic list of films would be complete without the mention of one of the most famous romantic movies of all time, Titanic. A 1997 epic romantic and disaster film, it incorporates both historical and fictionalized aspects, and is based on accounts of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, and stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as members of different social classes who fall in love aboard the ship during its ill-fated maiden voyage.
